The facility at 259 McGrath Highway consists of the flagship Mercedes Benz and Smart Cars showrooms as well as the corporate headquarters of The Herb Chambers Companies. R.W. Sullivan Engineering provided MEP/FP design services for the renovation for a new Mercedes Benz showroom, offices, support services, Certified Pre Owned, Service Drive Lane and revamped their Service Bay Garage for a total of approximately 40,000 square feet. The facility remained occupied while under phased construction.
All new lighting for the showroom was quite challenging with high ceilings and open well floor (atrium like) to their second floor corporate offices above, but we were able to overcome the issues using specified ceramic metal halide downlights with adjustable aiming features along the open well. Color and aesthetics was important to match up with the manufacturer’s Autohaus standards and to have a specific metal ceiling European look to the facility. Diffusers and sprinkler conceal caps were painted to match the ceiling. New infrared heaters were utilized in the Service Drive lane along with replacement of roof top units. Sprinkler systems were updated in the renovation area as well as restroom upgrades.
