Legacy Place
Dedham, Massachusetts

The project consisted of a six building, 675,000 sf, open-air, retail, lifestyle center. The center features a unique blend of retailers, including Whole Foods Market, L.L.Bean, Kings, Borders, and Showcase Cinema de Lux. Legacy Place also hosts an exceptional lineup of restaurants that includes P.F. Changs, Aquitaine, and Met Bar & Grill.

The HVAC design for the majority of the buildings consisted of high efficiency packaged rooftop equipment ranging from 7.5 tons to 20 tons depending on tenant layout. The HVAC system for Building A consisted of two (2) 225 ton high efficiency, air cooled chillers for cooling and a 5,250,000 high efficiency boiler plant to provide heating to the facility. The electrical design for each building consists of an underground electrical service from an NStar padmount transformer to a 208/120V, 3-phase, 4-wire main switchboard which serves house loads and tenant loads that are each metered separately. Building A’s electrical design includes a 250kW/312.5kVA generator that serves a 150 horsepower fire pump. Buildings A, D and E are provided with lighting controls for the garage (Building A) and site lighting. Each building is designed to have a house fire alarm system with connection points in each tenant space for future tenants to connect tenant fit-out fire alarm devices into the house system. The fire protection design for all but the parking garage consisted of automatic wet sprinklers throughout all spaces. The plumbing design consisted of roof drainage, sanitary sewerage, kitchen (grease) waste, domestic water and natural gas services brought into the buildings, and provision of tenant connections at locations throughout the buildings

The total construction cost of the facility was approximately $200 million. The retail center opened for business in August 2009.
