Massachusetts Stretch Energy Code Feedback
Wednesday, August 25, 2010
Are you contemplating designing or building a project in one of the 45 communities that has adopted the optional “Stretch” Energy Code here in Massachusetts? Or maybe you are already underway on a project in either Newton or Cambridge where compliance with the “Stretch” Code is already mandatory? Either way you may want to plug into a new blog at the Commonwealth’s energy and Environmental website. This is the place to share experiences and concerns regarding compliance options, potential cost factors, concurrency periods, etc.. The “Stretch” code aims to achieve a 20% increase in energy efficiency over the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code, however the options for compliance vary depending on size and type of project. Our Code Group and MEPFP Engineers have several projects underway in “Stretch” code jurisdictions, so feel free to use us as a resource as well.
