Healthcare:

STATEMENT OF CONDITIONS

Since January 1, 1995 the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has been requiring facilities to complete a Statement of Conditions (SOC).  This report is required to be available on the day they conduct the Life Safety Compliance portion of their triennial survey.

The Statement of Conditions consists of four parts:

  1. Introduction and Instructions
  2. Basic Building Information (BBI)
  3. Life Safety Assessment(LSA) - compliance with the requirements of theNFPA 101 1997 Life Safety Code
  4. Plan For Improvement(PFI) - describes plan to resolve identified deficiencies
Health care organizations seek Joint Commission accreditation for many reasons. It may be used to meet certain Medicare certification requirements, may enhance community confidence and medical staff recruitment and often fulfills state licensure requirements.

The Sullivan Code Group specializes in building and fire code consulting and fire protection engineering.  Our staff includes registered professional fire protection engineers and registered architects.  The combined staff experience includes many years of consulting with the national model building codes, various state codes and the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code.

The Sullivan Code Group is available to assist Healthcare organizations in completing their Statements of Conditions, as well as any Fire Safety Evaluation Systems (FSES)surveys or analyses that may be needed. The FSES is accepted by JCAHO as an alternative way of evaluating and demonstrating the level of fire/life safety afforded to the occupants of the facility.
